TAKING FLIGHT

Today is an exciting day. Tomorrow I board my first plane of the year and by this time tomorrow I will be in Denmark en route to Randers no doubt tired from the trip, but excited for what will happen.
I am taking flight.
Not just boarding a plane, but learning to fly.
Taking risks.
Launching myself into the 'next' that God has for me and realising some dreams.
Our plans are fluid.....we'll listen to the Holy Spirit.
Our finances are uncertain....we'll pray and see our Father provide.
The purpose hasn't fully taken shape in my heart or mind....but God is step by step, bit by bit revealing it.
I haven't taken a trip quite like this before. I've usually had it all figured out, budgeted, tickets bought or known the vague itinerary. But God was the one who conceived it and confirmed it and gave it life and I'm saying 'yes'.
I've longed to return to Denmark and dreamed of seeing Norway. I've had words about stepping out, about teaching, about travel and about a season for meeting and connecting with people key for my destiny. I've had an urge in my heart to see more, do more, live differently to the 9-5 and the expected. I've felt a call to live beyond that norm, live beyond what I perceive to be do-able.
And so taking flight is about more than boarding a plane. This trip, - taking this step, being willing to hear from God, being willing to lay down the 'usual', the spontaneity, the step into something unknown - is about dreams being realised, a vision in its emryonic stage being nurtured to life. It's a new level of obedience. It's about a new level of trust and a new level of action. It's about walking the walk not just talking the talk. It's about stepping toward something bigger and greater. It's about something being released through the trip itself and my willingness to do it. It's about a destiny unfolding, a paradigm shifting and a Kingdom coming.
And so yes, I'm taking a bus. I'm riding a train (or three!), catching a plane, landing in a foreign land in and through all of it, I'm taking flight.
