OVER TO YOU!

As you know, I am trying to raise money for a PTE surgery this year. I realised I needed a way of reaching a circle beyond my own friends, so that each of you is not constantly being asked to help give of your own finances. I already see you being more than generous, and so rather than keep asking of and selling to the same people (although I am still selling calligraphy to order!), I would like to ask if you would consider giving of your time, skills, and energy to help multiply the fundraising. So it's....

OVER TO YOU

I would like to ask if you could pray about an amount that you could commit to raising between now and June 30th of this year. In the photo I have a chart with different amounts. As people commit to an amount, each box will change color, and then be checked off when the amount is given to me or paid off one of my bills. There are all kinds of ways people could do this. I love this idea as it can involve the family, children, something that you are already doing such as a business or activity.....the possibilities are endless. A few I thought of include: - Bake sales, lemonade stands, yard sales etc.

Last year one of the 4th grade girls on my street raised $300 for her friend's cancer treatment selling lemonade one Saturday morning to people passing by. I happened to pass by and stopped to buy a drink and make a donation, and also got to meet some of my neighbours and pray with them for their friend at the same time. Who knows, it could be fun?! - An auction online for a skill or product you have.

Do you have a piece of art you painted? Can you cut grass? Offer babysitting for a night? I've donated cakes, photo shoots, music lessons and art work in the past for charity auctions, so perhaps you have a skill or talent that you could use to help sow into this fundraising?

- Sponsored event. This week a friend of a friend that I have only met two or three times, ran a 30km race with me as the recipient of his sponsorship! I was touched by his generosity and willingness to make me his 'cause'. Maybe there is something you could commit to? I know families who have done walking, bike riding and skating as a family, so it was also something fun that they would be doing anyway. Maybe you have a goal of a particular race or distance in your swimming, running, cycling etc, and could gain sponsorship?

- Special offers with your business. As well as offering the skills I mentioned before at auctions, I have also had seasons where a percentage of my profits from cakes was going toward a specific cause. if you have a business, perhaps there's a product that is connected with things like breathing, lungs, health or my name that - for a limited time - could have a percentage of its profits coming toward this fundraiser? Maybe names of customers who donate during a fixed period could go into a draw for a product? A friend of mine who sells It Works products will do a 'Give Back' party as soon as I can arrange it, where she donates some of her income off that party toward my fundraiser. Another who is a photographer is going to offer a number of family photo shoots with the profits coming to this fundraiser. This can also serve as a way of getting word out about your business too as I know I would be sharing it online, and I'm sure others would too - I love when everyone wins!!!!!

-Host a tea party or event

In the UK Macmillan tea parties are pretty famous now. Perhaps you could host something similar and sell tickets or ask for donations? A teddy bear's picnic for young enough children? Or just good old fashioned cream tea or girl's night......so many possibilities that also mean enjoying food and fellowship with friends.

- Intentionally and actively promote my fundraising

I sell calligraphy to order, I have a YouCaring fundraiser, and I'm selling tshirts again April 1st-21st. Maybe you could commit the time to promoting one of those. Perhaps a stand at the back of church or at a sports activity where you could take a group order for shirts. Even a handful of social media posts (you could download the photos below) is a huge help. You Caring also runs competitions throughout the year and gives money to the fundraiser of the winner's choice. Check out the one for April 1st here Basically you just have to tweet a couple of things off a checklist, and get entered into a draw. Easy!

I'm sure there are many, MANY more ways of being able to sow in some time, energy or small financial resources, and for them to multiply through these events. It's extremely humbling to be asking people, and the wider the circle gets, and the more sacrifices I see people making, the more humbled I am, and thankful for such incredible friends and family in my life.

If you feel you are able to commit to raising a certain amount, please let me know by email, text or a comment on any of my 'Over to You' social media posts that will be popping up. I'm looking forward to crossing off boxes and seeing these funds come together!

Finally.....

Please know too, that above the fundraising, I am thankful for your friendship and prayer. A huge part of my testimony from this journey has been God consistently answering prayer. Time and time again I see the truth of Isaiah 43:2 and of God fulfilling promises and answering specific prayers people have been praying. Countless times I have had something happen and later heard that at that time someone was specifically praying for that same thing for me, without me having said a word to them. Friends who are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and respond in prayer, encouragement and giving are truly an incredible gift, and I'm thankful for each one of you.

I can't wait to hear your creative fundraising ideas, and see the photos of Breathe Hope and PHighter out and about over the next few weeks! Thank you for loving, praying and giving. You are loved and appreciated!
