ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Scandinavia Part Seven

denmark part one 206.JPG

Prayer drive day two.

By now we were nailing the system for getting us in and out of the back of the car and were warmed up listening for Holy Spirit in each stop we made - and the ones we almost didn't!

This is a photo from a 'hobbit house' we spotted as we drove by, and began 'gently encouraging' our driver to turn back so we could investigate. It turns out it's a bird watching location on the marshes and we enjoyed the quick break, a tour of the museum and some time appreciating the wildlife of Jutland. I also felt that God was speaking a truth to us through it. Sometimes it may feel like our destination is being delayed or that going backwards is a bad thing, but sometimes it's worth taking the time to slow down, stop and go back and reflect, spend some time somewhere we hadn't expected to. It may make the journey slightly longer, but it will also make it richer and if we become so focused on the destination rather than the journey, we can end up missing some real treasures and pleasures that God has for us.

This is also the place by the way where I thought I'd captured something angelic on camera. Much as I loved the idea that I had, I do like to disprove every other option first, and ended up deciding that the thing in the top right corner, far from being something angelic, is actually my hair blowing back in front of the camera! Next stop, Nykobing where we felt God was calling young people to return for the inheritance he has for them (literally and spiritually); that many choose to move away to pursue something they value more, but there's a rich inheritance for those who return.

With a break in Viborg we drove on to Aarhus, a university down where God is wanting to bring revival among the students and among the churches that have lost heart or become discouraged and lifeless. We worshiped on the streets as well as praying, and drove through the university grounds praying that those who go there searching and researching would encounter the living God.

About 900km after first setting out I felt like we'd thoroughly explored not only Denmark but God's heart for this nation. What a joy to follow God's lead and see his heart and be part of his plans and purposes for a country as beautiful, friendly and loved as Denmark.
